Join Anne and her guest expert colleagues at these illuminating masterclasses, focused on specific theory topics from the D3 module of the WSET Diploma
***Including, by popular request, a SWOT analysis of each region***
🍷 This series of masterclasses is designed to give you access to direct tuition by three world-class experts across three D3 Theory subject areas: Beaujolais, Rhône and Germany.
🍷 The focus will be firmly on the D3 Theory specification, past/potential exam topics and areas where you could benefit from more context and explanation of the content in the D3 book.
🍷 Following positive feedback from the Spring 2023 edition of the Guest Expert Series, this series will include a SWOT analysis of each of the regions covered
🍷 Having the opportunity to learn from these Masters of Wine about their specialist subjects in more depth than the scope of the book permits will allow you to add colour and understanding to an exam answer, should these topics come up.
🍷 You will also find that they help to bring these topics alive for you more than the book, which will in turn help you to remember them more easily!
🍷 Many of the concepts covered will have application across other exam questions even if these particular topics don’t appear.
All masterclasses will be moderated by Anne McHale MW and will last between 1 hour and 90 minutes, including a Q&A session at the end where you can ask your questions directly to the experts.
🍷 Masterclasses will be recorded and a replay available afterwards for all registrants
🍷 Non-D3 and non-WSET Diploma students are very welcome to register, on the understanding that the focus will remain very much on D3

‘Fascinating session with Jasper Morris, covering key topics on Burgundy that are very useful to Diploma students. Jasper kept the topics engaging and explained key concepts thoroughly. I appreciate Anne putting these together; great time. Kudos!!’

D3 Guest Expert Series:
Alun Griffiths MW on Rhône
This event took place on Tuesday 22nd August but you can still sign up and will be sent the recording.
Read what these participants had to say about Alun’s previous Guest Expert appearance in March 2023, in which he taught on Bordeaux:
‘Anne, it was a brilliant Masterclass with Alun Griffiths MW. I took 10 pages of notes! Best Bordeaux revision session! Thanks for organising.’
Carole Sharp, D3 Student and Spring 2023 Masterclass Attendee
‘Alun’s session was exceptionally meaningful: his insightful comments on the intricacies of the La Place de Bordeaux and the En Primeur systems, his comments on the various classification systems and on the multiple facets of blending just can’t be found elsewhere! Alun is an excellent communicator: focused, concise but very comprehensive, easy to understand even for non-native English speakers like myself, skilled in sharing loads of information in a very light manner…this session could have gone on for hours without being tiring.’
Weyler Lima, D3 Student and Spring 2023 Masterclass Attendee

Alun has more than 40 years’ experience in the wine trade.
He spent his early years in retail, wholesale and on-premise businesses before being appointed Wine Buyer for Fortnum & Mason, and then for Harrods, before becoming Wine Director at Berry Bros and Rudd for ten years, covering the UK, Asia and Ireland.
His chief areas of expertise lie in purchasing (with extensive experience of the Rhône and Bordeaux markets), education and hospitality. In 2013, he became International Director of the Vats Group in China with a mission to help inspire the young generation of internationalized Chinese wine lovers with a passion for fine wine.
Alun retired from international business in April 2020 and now consults from his UK base.

Anne was a role model when I studied for the WSET Diploma and she remains an inspiration today. One of the best coaches I’ve ever come across.
